      Problem Definition

      JIRA 7.4 introduces Kanban backlog. With this feature, if a column has more than 20 issues, JIRA will show a pop-up asking user to enable Kanban Backlog:

      This pop-up can be dismissed but upon re-login and opening the Kanban board, the same pop-up will be displayed again.

      Moreover when all issue status from the Kanban backlog column are moved to other columns, then the epics panel is disabled and a message pops up on the top right of the screen Help us improve the Kanban backlog:

      This is annoying also because it give to users the possibility to reach out to third party (in this case Atlassian and some Jira admin may want to disable this possibility for users.

      Suggested Solution

      Allow user to permanently dismiss the backlog pop-up

            I would really love this fix. Our team is not planning to use this feature and it drives me crazy that I get a pop up every single time I access our board. Our organization manages system settings, so I am not able to see whatever workaround is proposed in other comments, but it seems very odd to not have any ability to turn this "helpful" hint off.

            Please fix this!  If I clicked "Not now" 1,000 times, stop showing me!

            The backlog column is not useful for us as we have a multi-column backlog scenario. Backlog is just creating a bunch of tickets and later receive a refinement before actual task assignment. Therefore backlog planning is not easy to overview in just a single column.

            I currently use the CSS by-pass. Please do not rename the class.

            Agree on the annoyance part. The backlog feature not always is helpful, because it removes the ability to easily keep the overview. Some teams therefore may prefer to have the backlog as a classic column, and thus the popup no longer is any relevant.

            @socrates:

            1. Go to the cog in the top right-hand corner of Jira.
            2. Select"System".
            3. Type ". Announcement" OR scroll down the left hand menu to the "User Interface" and select "Announcement Banner".
            4. Paste code above into the Announcement field.
            5. Select Visibility of "Private".
            6. Click on Set Banner.

            It is really annoying.  @Flemming - where did you add that code?

            Eventually added the following to our banner:

            <style type="text/css">
            .aui-inline-dialog.jira-help-tip.aui-help.js-kanplan-enable-inline-dialog {
              display: none !important;

            How arrogant that Atlassian doesn't even bother to offer a comment in this thread!

            Please resolve asap.
