Errors when opening Issue Details pane for issues with attachments

      At an attempt to open Issue Details for issues with attachments of file types that use zip structure (e.g. .zip, .frt, .xlsx, .gliffy, pptx, .docx), JIRA Agile throws errors:

      java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/atlassian/jira/issue/attachment/AttachmentZipKit$FileCriteria


      Workaround 1
      Open the issues in a separate tab in the JIRA Issue View, and perform any operations there. Refresh the board to view changes.

      Workaround 2

      1. As an admin or sysadmin, go to JIRA Administration > System > Attachment Settings.
      2. Click Edit Settings.
      3. Switch the Enable ZIP Support option to "Off" and save the settings.
        Note: this will only disable the option to download all attachments as a single .zip file, and will not affect the availability of existing files (including .zip ones).

      If you follow the second workaround, you'll want to re-enable the ZIP support setting once the fix is rolled out.


      If you see Issue Keys on the board displayed as ellipsis ('...'), you're running into a different bug in Agile, GHS-11424.

            Note: if you're introduced the second workaround for this issue, you may want to re-enable ZIP support, to allow users to download attachments in bulk again.

            Issue Resolved

            A fix for this issue has now been rolled out to all affected instances in our Cloud offering.

            Workaround 2 masks the issue for many of our users but not all. Some users are getting a much bigger Java error that isn't resolved via the workarounds.

            This is affecting us as well on our OnDemand instance, but Workaround 2 stopped it.

            mike.low, you're running into another bug: GHS-11424. Issue Keys will be displayed correctly when your expand the top swimlane of the board.

            This is an issue across all of our ondemand instances and impacting critical workflows. Was working fine yesterday and broke as of when we came in this morning. Please resolve asap.

            Also new issue as of this morning is that the issue number in the Kanban board now only show "..." see attached "Kanban-no-issue-number"

            Ney Natalia , this was fixed for me users by implementing the following workaround :
            When viewing Agile board, issue keys on cards are showing at elipses instead of the actual issue key.
            This occurs when the first swimlane is collapsed. Uncollapsing the first swimlane will fix the problem.

            The issue mentions that it affects version 6.6.11, but our version (6.4) also has this problem!

            This issue is a Major blocker for us as all teams are instructed to utilize the boards and we have many xlxs and zip files on our tickets.

            @Bill Collins: I am using Workaround #2 and just downloaded an xlsx-File from a dashboards detail panel. They remain available for download.

            The workaround seems to disable an option in JIRA to download all attachments as a single zip file, not attachments that are already zip files. I tested a bit and zip attachments work normally even after disabling that option.

            Yes, non-.ZIP attachments are still available. But we did not have any zip files attached, not sure if you can see previously attached zip files after workaround #2.

            Not critical for us but makes Agile views difficult to use. Our work-around is to right-click or Cmd-click and open the issue in a new browser tab.

            We can see the issues outside Jira Agile, using the issues search features in Jira, but not in Jira Agile.

            We found a workaround for our teams but it's disruptive as everyone is usually instructed to use the board only.

            If you go to the actual issue (open in new window/tab) you can update the status and then refresh the board.

            This is actually a blocker to us. We lost important attachments and can't just delete them to carry on.
