Summary

The syntax used in the description field for Jira Desktop and the mobile app seems not to be aligned.

Example - Desktop

If I type three hashes e.g. "### headline" in the description field, the result is a h3 headline:

headline

Example - iOS

If I type three hashes e.g. "### headline" in the description field, the result is a numbered list like this:

1.  
   1.  
      1. headline

Expected behavior

Both, the desktop and the mobile syntax, are using the same markdown syntax. To keep backwards compatibility this could be an option in the settings of the mobile app.
