Resolution: Won't Fix
-
None
Summary
Inform user that software features are accessible only by licensed users
Steps to Reproduce
this is an example using the View Development Tools permission:
- enable Jira integration with GitHub
- for permission scheme, set "Group: Anyone" to both Browse Projects and View Development Tools
- view the issue by anonymous user
Expected Results
an anonymous user can view the development panel
Actual Results
an anonymous user can't view the development panel
Problem Definition
Access to software features are limited to licensed users though you can set the permission to "Group: Anyone".
So, when you set a permission which requires license(like View Development Tools) to "Group: Anyone", the result will be the same as setting this to "Application Access: Any logged in user"
This is difficult to understand intuitively.
Suggested Solution
Either of the following:
- show a message that setting "User:Anyone" for the permission which requires license will still restrict the access to "Application Access: Any logged in user"
- don't show the "User:Anyone" option for permissions which require software license
