"Error rendering 'gh-epic-link'. Please contact your JIRA administrators" error message in Epic link custom field view

Summary

When you click to view the "Epic link" custom filed, the error message "Error rendering 'gh-epic-link'. Please contact your JIRA administrators." is displayed.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Click Cog icon > Issues
2. Under Fields, click Custom fields
3. Locate the Epic Link custom field, then click the Cog icon > View

Expected Results

You see the info related to the custom field

Actual Results

You see the error message "Error rendering 'gh-epic-link'. Please contact your JIRA administrators." besides default value

The below exception is thrown in the JIRA log file:
