The switch to disable the Welcome Email for customers is counter intuitive

    • We collect Jira Service Desk feedback from various sources, and we evaluate what we've collected when planning our product roadmap. To understand how this piece of feedback will be reviewed, see our Implementation of New Features Policy.

Currently, if a user wants to disable the Welcome emails sent to customers, there is an option at Project settings > Customer notifications to disable welcome emails, but it works in a way that is counter intuitive:

The text for the switch indicates:

If enabled, account verification emails will not be sent to new customers. Customers won’t need to verify their email address or set up their account.

And the switch itself has a label on the right that always indicates "Do not send account verification emails", regardless of the status of the switch.

So, in summary, if the switch is OFF (grey color), emails are sent, if the switch is ON (green color) the emails are not sent, and this can be confusing.

      The suggestion is the following:
Change the title of the option from:

      Account verification email
If enabled, account verification emails will not be sent to new customers. Customers won’t need to verify their email address or set up their account.

      to

      Account verification email
If enabled, account verification emails will be sent to new customers and they will have to verify their email address/set up their account.

And "flip" the switch function so OFF means the email verification won't be sent, and ON for the email to be sent.

      • Additionally, change the text next to the switch to reflect what is the current behavior according to the switch status:
        • "Do not send account verification emails" when the switch is OFF
        • "Send account verification emails" when the switch is ON.

And the email it sends gives no indication that it's an account verification email. It's a "Welcome" message that has a link to the "Visit the Portal" that's actually a link to verify your account. How did this feature make it through UAT as is?

It's a shame that I can only vote once for this issue.

Thanks! I was wondering how to disable this, never thought I'd need to enable it
