Description
NOTE: This suggestion is for JIRA Service Desk Server. Using JIRA Service Desk Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.
Scenario
In some cases an SD project may be linked with a Dev Tool e.g. Bitbucket and some SD tickets might have Commits related to them. In these cases, only those users who have both JIRA Software and JIRA Service Desk application access are able to view the Development Panel in the SD tickets.
Suggestion
A user with application access to JIRA Software should be able to view the Development Panel in SD tickets without application access to JIRA Service Desk. In other words, this permission should be added to the list of what JIRA Software users can do in an SD project.
Notes
Permission Helper says a Software user without SD application access is not allowed to View Development Tools (which is correct by current design):
However, though it says an SD user without Software application access is allowed to View Development Tools, the user indeed cannot:
, which means:
- the message is incorrect
- JIRA Software application access is a must
Considering the above, Software access is more important than SD access to view development tools, so a Software user without SD application access should be able to view development tools.
