Issue Summary
We are using an Assets-based custom field on a customer request type. When a customer selects an object and then tries to change it via the search (lens) icon, the field does not correctly update to the newly selected object.
This leads to confusion for customers and blocks them from submitting the request unless they clear and re‑select the value in a different way.
Steps to Reproduce
- Step 1: Select a value in any Assets custom field on the customer portal
- Step 2: Click the magnifying glass icon to search and select another value.
Expected Results
New value is updated in the field
Actual Results
The new value is not updated, and the old value is still present
Workaround
Currently we don't have any workaround so we need to first remove the existing value and then update new value.
Alternatively the object picker for Assets custom fields on the customer portal can be disabled.
From Jira's custom field system settings, using the Configure contexts menu option, then Edit Assets Configuration, unchecking the Show object picker on customer portals will remove the search icon for the field, allowing only the select input to be searched.
This won't fix the issue, but can help avoid using the picker in the mean time.
