Summary:
We’re requesting an integrated auto-translation feature in Jira Service Management that detects comment language and displays it in the user's preferred language — with the option to view the original text. This would mirror the user experience in tools like Outlook, Instagram, and YouTube.
Accessibility & Inclusion Focus:
As a multilingual organisation supporting customers across Europe and beyond, we regularly receive feedback from users who find English-only communications a barrier to understanding. Relying on browser-based translation assumes technical fluency and places the burden on the customer — which is not accessible or inclusive.
An embedded translation function would help ensure all users — regardless of language — can access and engage with support content without extra steps or tools. This is especially important for public cloud users who often work independently and expect self-service to be seamless.
Current Limitations:
- Jira supports multilingual UI elements and notifications, but not dynamic, in-line comment translation.
- Manually translating comments is time-consuming, error-prone, and inconsistent.
- No known official plugin provides this functionality with toggle support for original and translated text.
Impact:
- Improves accessibility and customer experience for non-English-speaking users.
- Reduces workload and risk of miscommunication for support teams.
- Supports scalable, multilingual service delivery — especially in public cloud environments where automation is key.
Request:
Please let us know if this functionality is on the roadmap or if any existing plugins or integrations can support it. We’d welcome further discussion on feasibility, API usage, or possible workarounds.
