      A customer would like to know how JIRA Service Desk authenticates as opposed to JIRA.

      This is related to a 3rd party integration with Duo Security ( https://www.duosecurity.com/docs/jira )

      At the moment, this integration works fine with JIRA but there are some issues with JIRA Service Desk.

      I can't find any documentation related to Service Desk authenticates at the moment.

            We're running into similar issues with our SAML-plugin for JIRA (https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/com.resolution.atlasplugins.samlsso.Jira/server/overview).
            It would be essential to know what the Servicedesk login does to authenticate a user with no application access to make our plugin work for SD users.

            We're having the same issue with our instance. Is a solution for Duo support in site?

            Are there known workarounds?

            We've even considered a forced redirect from a cnamed JIRA page (http://getmetoservicedesk.corp.mysite.com) where the user would login and then would send/redirect the user to the Service Desk portal.

            If there's no solution, I don't see how we can proceed with Service Desk.
