It seems that the JQL Panel for the Insight (Assets) Object View Page cannot be directly ordered using JQL.

Go to Assests > Search for objects > Run the following AQL "Name" = Severity ORDER BY Order DESC
Order column is sorted based on the "Order by" functionality
Select the object type for which you want to customize the page layout
In the top-right, select Object type > Configure.
In the top-right, select Configure page layout.
Click "+" and name the tab as Order
In the Panel content select "AQL query"
In the AQL query, enter "Name" = Severity ORDER BY Order DESC
In Attributes to display dropdown, select Order and Name
Click any key Object Search page, In my case it's "FIR-3735"
Order is not sorted in descending order.

"Order by" functionality should work on the Insight Object JQL Panel.
