    • We collect Jira Service Desk feedback from various sources, and we evaluate what we've collected when planning our product roadmap. To understand how this piece of feedback will be reviewed, see our Implementation of New Features Policy.

      Problem

The request types are indexed for searching only by summary description and searching already created issues by their request type (as per answer from Atlassian on my post Solved: Customer Portal Search - Request Types (atlassian.com)). When the customer visits the portal and doesn't find the correct Request Type in the tree they usually try to search for it. If the exact words aren't indexed by the two algorithms nothing shows and the customer is discouraged from using the portal and rather sends an email.

      Solution

Introduce labeling like feature for Request Types, as is on the articles and include it in the indexing algorithm. This way we could better direct our customers to specific Request Types.

      Workaround

The workaround is posted on the post as well.
