Issue Summary

If one has multiple objects selected in an Asset custom field, the custom field is updated every time one uses an edit screen - even if the value is not changed.

This issue occurs only if multiple objects are selected. If only one object is selected the issue does not occur.

This can cause issues reporting-wise and probably in automation solutions that monitor if the custom field value changes. It also floods the Issue history with these changes

This is reproducible on Data Center: Yes

Steps to Reproduce

1. Create an issue in Jira with multiple objects selected in an Assets custom field. Note that the Assets custom field configuration need to have a Filter Assign Scope configured and the Make Filter Assign Strict option enabled.
2. Edit the created issue, and only modify the description (do not modify the Assets custom field).

Expected Results

In the history tab of the issue, only the Description is listed as modified.

Actual Results

In the history tab of the issue, both the Description and Asset custom field are listed as modified.

Workaround

Currently, there is no known workaround for this behaviour. A workaround will be added here when available
