Issue Summary
Unlike other fields, the Description field in the customer portal does not adopt the default value as configured in the field context.
This is reproducible on Data Center: (yes)
Steps to Reproduce
- Jira Admin -> Issues -> Fields. Make a text custom field, add it to the Create Issue screen for a JSM issue type
- Configure the field, and set the default value within the fields context
- Jira Admin -> issues -> System Fields. Edit the Description field, and add a context for all projects
- Set the default value in the field's context
- JSM Project Settings -> Request Types
- Click Edit Fields for the JSM issue type you chose in step (1), and add the "Text custom field" (and Description if not already there)
- Open the customer portal and create a new request for the request type you chose in step (6)
Expected Results
Both the Description and Text type custom field have their default values shown in the new request screen in customer portal
Actual Results
The new request screen shows the default value for the Text custom field, but not the Description.
Workaround
Currently there is no known workaround for this behavior. A workaround will be added here when available
