Actual Behaviour
When checked with the Color contrast analyzer tool, the color contrast of placeholder text such as “search” fails, when checked along with the background color with the following details.
FG: #7F8C9E
BG: #FEFFFF
Contrast ratio: 3.4:1
Expected Result
The mentioned placeholder text should have a color contrast ratio of 4.5:1. This helps low-vision users to read the text. The expected contrast ratio can be achieved by increasing the contrast of foreground color until it passes a contrast ratio of 4.5:1
A color contrast analyzer can be downloaded from Color Contrast Checker - TPGi
Workaround
Currently, there is no workaround available.
