      Update 27th Feb, 2023

      Hi everyone,

We are excited to announce that the Asset Reporting functionality is now generally available for all our Jira Service Management customers on Premium & Enterprise plan. The rollout is in process and you should notice it in your instance soon.

The new Asset Reporting functionality is a read-only dashboard that is designed to provide a more streamlined and efficient way to manage your assets. Please note that this dashboard will be accessible only by Jira or site administrators.

Please read the community post for more details.

As mentioned here, we are just getting started and there are a lot of improvements planned in the near future to provide our customers with an enhanced reporting experience.

Enjoy exploring the new Asset Reporting functionality and we look forward to hearing your feedback.

      Best Regards,

Rishabh and Jira Service Management Team

      Description

In Jira Server users have the option to create reports, so it would be nice to have a similar feature in Cloud.

            Hi Everyone,

I'm excited to provide an update on the progress of our Asset Reporting functionality and share insights into our future roadmap.

Over the past few weeks, we've received invaluable feedback from our EAP customers through various channels, including this JAC ticket. Our team is diligently working to address your feedback and continually enhance the current functionality.

Below, we've outlined the primary feedback points and our next steps to address them:

            1. Ability to schedule/email and export (as CSV or PDF) the Asset Report: We're thrilled to announce that this feature development is near completion and will be available to all customers within the coming weeks.

            2. Ability to save the view of the Report: We've noted this concern from some customers and are exploring viable solutions. The addition of the schedule functionality should partly address this issue, but we are working on a more comprehensive solution. **
In the meantime, Asset Reporting saved view workaround compressed.mp4 the workaround for saving your Asset report views using the existing functionality.

            3. Dashboard Performance: We've been working on enhancing the dashboard performance over the past few weeks. While we've seen significant improvements since the first release, we acknowledge there's still room for further enhancement. We commit to continual optimization efforts.

            4. Ability to share reports with non-admins: We anticipated this request and are working towards a solution. As some customers might have confidential data stored in their Asset catalogue, we had to restrict access to Jira & Site admins. However, we're developing a way to grant non-admins access to report on the schemas and object types they have access to.

            5. Custom Reporting: This is also a priority feature planned in our roadmap. We're working to provide our customers the ability to create their own custom reports with advanced visualizations and chart-builder. This feature development is underway and will also be part of future enhancements.

            6. Integration with Jira Dashboard: Currently, Jira Dashboard only integrates with Jira issues. We've started discussions to integrate Assets and other JSM functionalities with Jira Dashboards, which will allow you to report on all JSM data (issues, operations, assets).

We hope this update provides clarity on our approach to addressing your feedback. We'll keep you updated on the progress of these items and will come back with a more definite timelines on each of them soon.

We're also working to roll out the current functionality to all our customers in the upcoming days. Please stay tuned for more updates.

Your feedback is invaluable to us. If you wish to discuss further & provide more feedback, please book a slot here. We look forward to connecting with you and continually improving our functionality.

            Hi @Rishabh Bansal

Would it be possible to share a roadmap for when you will release the new initiatives for Reports.

We are in a situation where we need to find a temporary solution for reporting on our assets, but in the long term we would like to use your Reports.
However, we need a timeframe on where and when there will be releases from your side.

Do you have a link or this information somewhere?

            Best Regards

Thanks for the update on the roadmap. I totally understand why a "less than complete" solution was rolled out for EAP instead of waiting for a bunch of other features to be added, everyone should keep in mind that's kind of what an EAP is for: gathering customer feedback.

I will say however that if the plan from the start was to expand access to non-admin users but that this is delayed due to the technical complexities that this should have been explained when the EAP began. If I had heard that "we don't have non-admin access yet but here's why and we are working on building that out" I would have been okay with it.

This is very disappointing. It is not of the quality we expect from Atlassian products, slow in performance - but most importantly - it is not what the userbase has asked for.

I understand taking an Agile approach to a new feature (though not at all new in Datacentre, with previous functionality existing prior to Atlassian's acquisition of this app), but even as minimum viable product this is completely off-track from what we have requested. Asset reporting should be available as widgets on the current Dashboard, for Objects rather than Issues.

In it's current form, Jira Assets is not a complete ITAM solution. Without dashboard widgets, there is no advantage to having an ITAM component for Jira - it's no more work to manage a separate platform, that is likely many times faster and more reliable.

I'm rather disappointed in the "reports" shown and their lack of usability; without being able to save a report for future use, or send save reports on a schedule this is no more than another way to manually query the data. The lack of AQL and JQL to query the data is surprising given the power and capability of the querying languages within the rest of the Jira Assets product. Having the reports being able to be integrated into a confluence page or a Jira Dashboard would also help.

            I concur with Lothar's and Majken's observations.

It is nice that this topic is getting attention and there is progress. However, the UI is similar to Atlassian Analytics but with fewer features. Ideally, data from assets should be provided via dashboard gadgets from a visualization standpoint. Our teams are already accustomed to using dashboards and having to go to an entirely separate place to see this information will be a barrier to adoption.

Performance is quite slow on our side as well...

            Hello,

I got access the day before yesterday and after playing around with the dashboard I have 2 thoughts.

            1) nice start, but this dashboard is at the wrong spot. Please create JSM dashboard widgets and Confluence insert-able elements for each of the individual measurements in this dashboard. Having Confluence automation capabilities for creating our own asset reporting  pages could convince companies like mine to upgrade from Confluence standard to premium.

            2) please make it faster. The performance in agonizing me .

Cheers and hoping to see this evolve to it's full potential,

            Lothar

It's fairly basic, but I got a sneak peek in Nov and what I saw then was not useful. What we just got I can actually use for things.

What I really want is the basic Jira dashboard gadgets - pie charts, issue statistics - to work off Objects instead of issues. I'm concerned that Atlassian is trying to strip reporting out into a separate tool that we have to pay more for. Hope I'm wrong.

Hi just had a quick look into the dashboard. Well, I am very disappointed. This is only one set of very limited information. The dashboard might answer some questions, but lacks the ability and flexibility to support a broader need for information. When designing this, did you have a look on what functionality is available in Jira Server!?

This dashboard is useless for me.
