Issue Summary
For Service Desk projects with the new issue view, you have no way to control sub-task screens. Service Desk does that configuration under Request Types and sub-tasks cannot have a Request Type.
It's not possible to use the "Configure" feature to edit the issue layout because the Subtask doesn't have a Request Type.
The same applies to issue types that don't have a request type associated with.
Steps to Reproduce
- In a Service Desk project create a subtask;
- Try to edit the issue layout in order to remove the request type;
Expected Results
It's possible to edit the issue layout and remove the request type since it's not used.
Actual Results
It's not possible to edit the issue layout because the issue type doesn't have a request type.
Workaround
Currently, there is no known workaround for this behavior. A workaround will be added here when available.

Description |
Original:
For Service Desk projects with the new issue view, you have no way to control sub-task screens. Service Desk does that configuration under Request Types and sub-tasks cannot have a Request Type. So you end up stuck with a really weird view of sub-tasks that you cannot control at all.
Are there plans to fix this soon? It has been like this for a couple of years and sub-tasks have always been weird in that you cannot remove the Request Type field, but you also cannot use it. It would also be good to be able to control the issue layout on regular issues that do not have a Request Type (since that is a possible setup that is not editable). Even if sub-tasks and issues without request types could only be accessed from a place that is not in the Project Settings UI, that would help (allow us to get to them from using atlassian.net/plugins/servlet/project-config/<servicedeskprojectkey>/issuelayout?screenId=10004). As a bonus, a click of "Configure" on the issue could get you there too. |
