We have customers that want all communication to and from Jira Servicedesk to be S/MIME encrypted.

Currently there are limitations in the Jira Cloud that prevent the implementation of S/MIME support.

Information from savignano software solutions (Developer of the addon S/Notify)

‘Hello and thank you very much for your inquiry!

I’m afraid there is no S/Notify for cloud instances of Jira. While we would love to offer cloud support, unfortunately, due to the limitations in Jira Cloud, it is currently impossible to provide this functionality in a cloud app.

We have proposed Atlassian to offer an API for this purpose, but it is unknown if and when they might decide to implement it. Maybe if you or your customer opened an issue about this, this could help.’

I think this is an important issue. Not all customers feel confident exchanging confidential information unencrypted.

As the vendor of S/Notify Email Encryption, we've filed a feature request for the Forge API at FRGE-697 to enable us to support this requirement. If you want this, too, please vote for that request!
