    Description

      Hello,

Working in a distributed engineering team alongside our customer support team, it can be challenging to plan changes and maintenance.

Specifically, our customers request updates in their local timezone, which is different from the timezone of the customer support and of the engineer who will take charge of the ticket.

This is why it would be great for Jira to handle timezone in a better way than not showing anything and assuming that the time is in the local timezone.

Jira should display the timezone of the field in one way or another:

      • By hovering on the date field
      • By displaying it alongside the date
      • By allowing to change its format (using the abbreviation (e.g. CET/CEST), the full name (Europe/Paris) or the offset from UTC (+0200)).

Another neat functionality would be to have absolute time fields allowing to pick the date, time and timezone. This would be the same value displayed for all users and include the timezone, date & time. A neat addition would be to display the local date / time based on browser when hovering over this field.

My team work in 4 different timezones, 3 of them observing DST and all change at a different date so mistakes are very easily made converting dates back and forth. (e.g. California, Central Europe, India and Eastern Australia).

      Thank you

      Thomas
