Summary
When using label custom fields in the portal, if you enter a new label name in the custom field and attempt to reuse it on another ticket it is never suggested.
However, if you have the default system Label field in the portal and add a new label name, the next time you use the custom field label it will provide suggestions from the system default Label field.
Essentially the only labels suggested and remembered are ones that have been entered into the system default label field. Any labels entered into a custom label field will never be suggested when trying to use again.
Steps to Reproduce
- Create a custom label field
- Add both the system default label field and also your custom label field to a Request Type
- Create a new ticket from the portal, enter a new label into the custom label field, leave the system default label field blank
- Create another ticket and in the custom label field attempt to re-use the same label from the previous ticket, the label is not found and no suggestion made
- Create a new ticket and this time enter a new label into the system default label field
- Create a new ticket and attempt to re-use the label from the previous ticket/step. Notice it is found and suggested for both label fields
Expected Results
After entering a new label name into a label custom field, next time you should be able to re-use the same label without creating it again
Actual Results
The only labels ever suggested are ones that were entered into the system default label field

This only occurs within the portal, when creating a ticket from within Jira previous labels from custom label fields are remembered and suggested
