Summary

Email requests with attachments sent to a Jira Service Desk project's incoming email or customized incoming email may fail with "There was an error reading the body of email message" caused by serialization of attachments when uploading the email to the database, making them corrupted.

How to reproduce

The issue is not consistent, so it can't be reproduced simply by sending an email request with attachments, on the other hand, if you send an email with an already corrupted attachment, the behaviour will be the same.

Workaround

If you are using IMAP as the protocol, you can mark the failed email as unread so Jira Service Desk will reprocess it, the risk of failure still exists, though.
