Issue Summary
When adding users to a Jira Service Management customer organization via:
- Jira settings → Jira apps → Organization → [select an organization] → Add customers
the Add customers dialog displays the helper text:
“Enter customer email”
However, if the target user already exists on the site as an Atlassian account and their email visibility is not public, they cannot be found by searching their email address in this dialog.
Instead, the admin must search using the user name (or display name). The current helper text is misleading because it implies that searching by email will work in all cases.
Suggested Solution
Update the helper text / placeholder in the Add customers form under Jira apps → Organization to accurately describe what can be used for search.
For example, change:
- Current text:
Enter customer email
- Suggested text:
Enter customer email or user name
or alternatively:
- Search by customer email or user name
- Enter customer email (if visible) or user name
