Current State:
Notifications behave very differently for customer roles as they are not designed to have access to Work Item views and can access Portal only. The customers are receiving email notifications based on Customer notification settings and not internal notification settings.
The following roles are considered customer roles and hence will receive customer notifications only
- Reporter.
- Request Participant.
- Member of an Organization.
- Approver.
Proposed Future State:
Project admins should be able to have fine grained control over which of the following roles can receive internal notifications and notifications about @mentions. This will help providing better notifications and more information for internal customers.
