Improve visibility and management of long group names in the "Request Type Restrictions" UI in JSM

      Problem

When configuring request type restrictions in Jira Service Management, administrators often encounter issues with long group names. The UI truncates these names, and there is no tooltip or method to view the full group name. This makes it difficult to identify, select, or remove the correct group—especially in environments with many similarly named or lengthy group names.

      Suggested Solution

      Potential solutions could include:

      • Displaying the full group name in a tooltip when hovering over the truncated name.
      • Allowing the group name field or window to be expanded/resized.
      • Providing a searchable dropdown or list with full group names and descriptions.

      Why This Is Important

Accurate management of group-based access is critical for security and operational efficiency. When group names are not fully visible, administrators risk selecting or removing the wrong group, which can lead to unauthorized access or service disruptions. Improving visibility will enhance usability, reduce errors, and save time for admins managing complex environments.

      Workaround

Currently, the only workaround is to double-click and copy the truncated group name from the UI, or use browser developer tools to inspect the element. However, this is not user-friendly or scalable for environments with many groups.
