Problem Statement:
In many workflows, collaboration across multiple teams is required to resolve a single issue. Currently, JIRA only supports internal comments or links to other issues. This setup lacks flexibility and can cause clutter or confusion when trying to manage communication with external stakeholders (e.g., Legal, IT, or third-party vendors) without exposing the full ticket details or disrupting the main ticket flow.
Proposed Solution:
Introduce a "Side Conversations" capability in JIRA, where users can:
- Initiate parallel discussions within an issue via email, Slack, or other tools.
- Manage these conversations without leaving the ticket.
- Track responses and thread history in a side panel.
- Optionally create child issues or sub-tasks based on conversation outcomes.
Benefits:
- Improved cross-team collaboration.
- Reduced noise in main issue threads.
- Enhanced context preservation for ticket-related communications.
- Increased productivity through integrated tools like Slack, Teams, or email.
