Issue Summary:
The Assets macro in Confluence allows users to display and share asset information. However, when a large table of objects is published, it becomes difficult for viewers to easily locate the specific object(s) they are interested in. This creates a challenging user experience, particularly when dealing with extensive lists of assets.
Expected Results:
Users should be able to efficiently search and filter the table to focus on relevant objects. Two potential solutions are proposed:
- Implement a search box that filters the table rows based on user input.
- Allow column headers to function as filters, similar to how filters work in Excel or other spreadsheet tools.
Workarounds:
To mitigate the issue, the following workarounds can be considered:
- Create multiple tables with predefined filters to narrow down the asset list, reducing the need for further filtering.
- Fine-tune your AQL (Asset Query Language) to present a more focused list of results based on anticipated user needs.
While these workarounds may help reduce the scope of the problem, they do not fully resolve it. Predicting the exact objects users want to focus on is not always possible, and this may result in cluttered pages with multiple large tables.
