    Description

      Background:

'Missing objects outbound references' - this setting will appear only if you have selected Update or Ignore from 'Missing Objects' in 'Edit Object Type Mapping'.

      Problem:

When importing objects in Asset, if all the referenced objects are not listed in the import file, it will not remove the missing object’s outbound reference. This can be a challenge when performing importing using Asset Discovery’s server scan, where the referenced outbound hosts are not expected to be available most of the time.

      Scenarios:

      • Full scan may take from few minutes to hours, and it becomes a challenge during outages, where time is a constraint.
      • If one of the referenced object is offline or decommissioned, and there are changes in the app(object) in another server, then full scan will not update the missing outbound referenced object.

      Suggested Solutions:

We’ll need a solution to remove the outbound reference of the missing object without requiring all the referenced objects to be present in the import file.
