Using custom text to hide email signatures breaks inline images that are below the custom text line

      Issue Summary

      The custom detection for email signatures allows Jira administrators to configure custom texts or special characters for the Jira mail handler to detect email signatures as documented here: Hide email signatures from the issue view and portals

      However when an inline image is added below the custom text, the image is not added as an attachment or processed, showing an error for Preview unavailable.

      Steps to Reproduce

      1. Navigate to Settings > Products > Email requests.
      2. Under the Hide email signatures in issues and portals section, mark Custom detection.
      3. Add a text such as Regards,.
      4. Send an email to a Jira Service Management project's mail handler with the body containing the word Regards, and an inline image underneath it.
      5. Open the created ticket, which should have a Signature section within the Description area. The image will appear broken and no attachments will have been added to the ticket.

      Expected Results

      The inline image under the signature demarcation is processed and added as an attachment.

      Actual Results

      The attachment is not processed and a broken thumbnail is displayed within the signature section of the Description:

      Workaround

      Currently there is no known workaround for this behavior. A workaround will be added here when available
