Include Forms when cloning an issue

      This is currently not on our short or medium-term roadmap; however, we will continue to review the demand for this feature and will provide another update in October 2023.

      The recommended workaround is to use Deep Clone or other marketplace apps to clone forms with an issue.

      When cloning an issue we expect for all the data to be carried across, however forms and the data saved in the form is lost during this action.

      We would like for Forms to be cloned along with the issue clone.

       

      Workaround using Forms API:

      Workaround using Marketplace App:

      With the Marketplace App Deep Clone it is possible to clone an issue with all of the forms attached to it. This can also be automated using a Deep Clone’s post function on a transition.

      Make sure to select the Clone issue properties when cloning an issue.

      Deep Clone can be used to clone within the same instance and between instances. Note that Deep Clone does support bulk clones.

      Warning: Cloning issues & forms between projects

      Cloning an issue to another project which does not have have the same custom fields as the source projects will often break the link between form fields and the Jira custom field.

      Recommendation: If you plan on cloning an issue between projects, only link form fields to standard Jira fields or ensure that the same custom fields are available in both projects.
