      Update from 23rd December, 2022

      Hi all,

Thanks for your interest. We appreciate that this is an important feature and have started the work to enable Marketplace app development for import integrations. From there, we are aiming to build a number of integrations ourselves, and continue to collaborate with partners and Marketplace app developers in order to offer a range of integrations for Assets. Whilst we cannot share ETAs or a list of integrations to be developed yet, we are in the process of formalising requirements and conducting technical investigations. In the meantime - for those of you considering custom integrations, please refer to our API documentation on https://developer.atlassian.com/cloud/insight/imports/introduction//

Otherwise we will provide an update as soon as we can share more information.

      Best regards,

      Doro Linneweber

      Product Manager, Jira Service Management

We would like to have an out-of-the-box integration between Insight Cloud and Microsoft InTune so that we can load our IT assets in JSM.

Good news! The team behind AMFJ seems to have implemented a solution to move away from the External Assets Platform just last week. More info here: [Asset Management for Jira - Product Updates and Changes | Introducing|https://updates.assetmanagementforjira.com/announcements/introducing-the-new-amfj-asset-panel]

I’ve also checked with Atlassian’s support team, and they told me that “Assets Data Manager” is the latest solution for this. You can use their built-in adapters for Intune and Entra to pull your data, which I’ve already piloted and therefore I can confirm it works. However, it’s much more complex and time-consuming to set up properly.

12da6149d169  Thanks for replying with this information. I still have not moved forward with testing a solution but based on that link it sounds like any hope for using the app that I inquired about might be fruitless. With my limited understanding or experience with these tools, the notice of shutdown sounds like a push to use their Asset Management, but I'm not sure how that would even work without external assets or some integrations.

I was just about to introduce the same app to my JSM site and I couldn't believe what message appeared immediately after the installation:

[Asset Management for Jira - Product Updates and Changes | Important|https://updates.assetmanagementforjira.com/announcements/important-announcement-regarding-the-future-of-asset-management-of-jira]

We need to sync our Intune and Entra ID objects to Assets, and it seems like literally all marketplace apps which could do that are based on the External Assets Platform, which is going to be deprecated by the end of the year. We've looked into a streamlined approach to get this done, but couldn't find any built-in feature by Atlassian so far.
The official announcement can be found here: Shutdown Notice: Update on deprecation of the External Assets Platform - Announcements - The Atlassian Developer Community

            Any suggestions?

I'd looked into Asset management 5-6 years ago but didn't pull the trigger on anything because importing and maintaining the assets was not automated. It looks like there are a few marketplace apps out there that do the same thing that Jira offers without any kind of sync option. I shouldn't be surprised there hasn't been movement on this ticket since Jira always offers their products without any built in features and expects you to figure out how to use the tools they give you to automate and do your own thing. I did find one marketplace app that appears to have a continuous Intune sync. Does anyone have experience with "Asset Management for Jira - IT Assets & License Manager?" It looks like it has what we all need.  May give the trial a run here in the next week or so.

            Hi Helen,

I think generally speaking anything gathering interest takes some time, I've personally seen some of these tickets sat for years.

I'd advise going for a third party app - maybe I'm just biased because I'm about to recommend you the one I built which is available on the Atlassian marketplace!

It syncs all of your Intune devices, Entra users & groups, Entra applications + a whole load more user/device attributes, you can find out more here, would be very happy to give a demo/assist with setting up.

You can find more info out here: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1233751/entra-intune-sync-for-assets?hosting=cloud&tab=overview.

            Thanks,

            Jack

Is this likely to be added as a built in feature, or is 3rd party apps the way to go here?

For those still seeking a resolution:

Introducing our latest product: automated syncing from Intune to Assets. Seamlessly synchronize all attributes across your Intune devices with ease.

Additionally, we've introduced a Device Owner field, allowing you to link tickets with specific hardware based on the reporter, along with numerous other enhancements.
