Currently, when you log work on a bug, it automatically changes the estimate to tell you how much work is left. This is good.

However, JIRA should also preserve the original estimate in a separate place. This will eventually allow you to compare the original estimate with the time actually spent, letting you know whether your estimates are high, or low, or on target. This is a particularly necessary in XP development.
