      NOTE: This suggestion is for JIRA Server. Using JIRA Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.

      In step one of the "New Issue" form you are given a drop down to select the type of issue.

      I would prefer to see a table with the following structure

      -----------------------------------------------

      This is a simple UI metaphor and re-inforces the meaning of the icons in relation to their description.
