Issue Summary
In a Jira instance that has around 5,000 screens or more, clicking on the Update button in Jira admin ⚙ > Issues > Fields > System Fields > Description removes associations of the field to screens near the bottom of the page.
When a customer runs into this issue, they cannot easily revert back without doing the manual intervention workaround.
This is reproducible on Data Center: (yes)
Steps to Reproduce
- Generate a Jira instance with 5,000+ screens
- Navigate to Jira admin ⚙ > Issues > Fields > System Fields > Description
- Tick and untick across several screens. Make sure to tick the last screen in the list.
- Click Update.
Expected Results
No field-screen associations will be lost.

Workaround
When updating a system field - screen associations for an instance with a large volume of screens, use the REST API instead:
