Problem Statement

The Universal Plugin Manager in Jira should be preventing the upload and installation of Plugins that are not compatible with the specific version of Jira that they are being uploaded/installed on.

Description:

The Universal Plugin Manager allows users to upload and install any JAR or OBR file into Jira. These plugins contain specific Jira Version details in the pom.xml file, however, those values are being ignored by the UPM during installation.

Suggestion:

Please update the UPM for Jira and force it to review the jira.version details in the pom.xml file it's processing. If the plugin is not compatible with the version of Jira that the user is trying to install it on, then stop the installation and throw an incompatibility error message.
