Steps to Reproduce

In your profile settings, configure external links to open in new tabs.
Add a custom field of type URL.
On any issue set it to an external website, e.g. ecosystem.atlassian.net.
Click on the link.

Expected Results

The website opens in a new tab

Actual Results

The website replaces the currently viewed issue.

Workaround
