      Atlassian Update – 4 November 2019

Thank you for your votes and comments on the new colors for issue statuses introduced in Jira 8.2. We’ve updated the colors of issue statuses, notifications, and lozenges to bring more consistency between Jira Server and Jira Cloud. We are not considering bringing the old colors back or adding the option to switch between status colors.

javier.carazo2 thank you for bringing our attention to the Sprint Health Gadget color inconsistency in this community thread. We will make the colors consistent and ship the fix in the upcoming Jira 8.6 release as well as backport it to the recently shipped 8.5 Enterprise Release. You can track our progress in this bug I raised on your behalf JRASERVER-70207.

Some of you highlight the fact that the new status colors may be harder to distinguish between for color-blind users. To improve this experience, we are planning to introduce patterns to issue statuses. Users would be able to turn them on in personal accessibility preferences. I have attached a preview to this suggestion to learn if this would solve the problem for you.

    Description

It seems that since Jira 8.2.0, the colors for statuses are changed to different ones. We would like to have option to use the original colors because:

      • all users are used to the current scheme (blue = TO DO, yellow = IN PROGRESS, green - DONE)
      • especially the change of IN PROGRESS color from yellow to blue that is already associated with TO DO and change of TO DO to very similar violet is horrible idea that will confuse lots of people.
      • the new colors looks horrible.

Any option would work - some switch to "legacy" colors or option to customize colors of status categories.

      thank you
