    Description

      Summary

As an admin I would like to better understand the security implications of having clustered environment. I would like to understand what I should review and what I should change.

Installing JIRA Data Center version 7.2 documentation provided the following security note:

Ensure that only permitted cluster nodes are allowed to connect to a JIRA Data Center instance's ehcache RMI port, which by default is port port 40001, through the use of a firewall and/or network segregation. Not restricting access to the ehcache RMI port could result in the compromise of a JIRA Data Center instance.

This note is not present in new versions of the documentation. Currently there is no mention of security.

      Suggested Change

Create new documentation detailing security considerations when using JIRA Data Center.

      • Another option is documentation that describes security considerations for all Atlassian Data Center applications, including JIRA Data Center.

      Example suggested content:

      • Network security considerations
      • File system security considerations
