Summary
Data import from Pivotal Tracker results in various errors e.g. it is not possible to import attachments and time tracking data. This is because Pivotal API has been moved to v5 while Jira is still on v3.
Expected results
As an admin, when I import data from Pivotal Tracker, I am able to import the attachments and time tracking info and there are no errors related to this displayed.
Actual results
Importing from Pivotal results in various error and failure reports. Attachments are not imported (issues are).
Steps to reproduce
As an admin
- access the 'External System Import' tool
- choose the Pivotal Tracker system
- provide Pivotal credentials and proceed with the wizard
- based on the projects specified for the import and characteristics of those one may, or may not, run into multiple errors. E.g. an attempt to import project with issues containing attachments results in the issues being imported but the attachments not.
Possible workaround
Use the CSV export feature in Pivotal and the CSV import feature in Jira. Unfortunately, Pivotal documentation explicitly states that CSV exports do not include attachments.
Probable reason
Pivotal Tracker has released a new API and deprecated the old one. Jira may be still using the later one hence the failures.
Additional notes
This most probably affects all Jira Server versions (if the API deprecation is the root cause).
Also, there may be more Pivotal import features affected (not only attachments and time tracking) by it.
