      Atlassian Update – 22 August 2018

      Hi everyone,

Thank you for your insights and thoughts on this issue.

With the change in Oracle support structure, we've decided to move forward with providing support for OpenJDK 11 across all Server products. This also means that we'll not invest in providing support for Java 9 / 10.

Given that Oracle is going to start charging for Java 8 in just a few months (Jan 2019), I think it would be a great idea for Atlassian to move away from it.

Haven't looked at Oracle pricing, but whatever it is can't be in Atlassian's favor, right?

Java 8 is EOL as of January 2019.

For businesses that care about information security, it's a priority to upgrade to a supported version.

Has anyone tried running Jira with Java 9 even though its not supported for testing purposes?
