Official Docker Hub images for Atlassian Jira, Bitbucket and Confluence are now available and is supported in Jira from Jira 8.4 onwards. For Jira Software Docker images, you can find it them: https://hub.docker.com/r/atlassian/jira-software

If you’re looking for Kubernetes / OpenShift, please see the related issue: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRASERVER-69931

      Original request:

Customers have customizations such as plug-ins and image files, and created few custom workflow integrating with some internal service written in-house, they need to do testing before deploying JIRA prod instance. Therefore, they want to make their installation steps repeatable and testable, using an docker image is a good solution in our case. If they are able to use docker, then they can potentially do a lot of minor version upgrades quickly and more confidently.

For more context, Confluence, and Bitbucket are already available: https://hub.docker.com/u/atlassian/

            Hi team,

I’m Steve King, one of the Enterprise product managers looking after our infrastructure and automation. I’m very pleased to update you on the progress we’ve made with Docker. I’ve updated the description of this ticket but I also wanted to give you a bit of context to our changes.

We’ve been providing official images on Bitbucket for a while, and then Confluence. We’ve had unofficial docker images for the various Jira products for some time and they’ve been quite popular. This year, we’ve been making improvements on how our Data Center customers can manage their deployments, automate parts of their scaling and generally handle their infrastructure.

From Jira 8.4, we’re making Docker officially supported on Jira Software, Core and Service Desk for all of our customers who want to move to dockerized environments, use for testing or just play.

I’m looking forward to your feedback on our progress, so please feel free to get in touch with me to discuss more.

            Kindest Regards,

            Steve King - steve.king at atlassian.com

I do endorse docker and k8s official support as it would prevent creation of customized container configurations that are difficult to troubleshoot.

Data Center Customer, Gov.UK is looking to deploy Jira and Confluence Data Center with Kubernetes. They are looking for this to be supported. DevOps contact reviewed the presentation from Summit 2018 and would like additional info directly from Atlassian. Also requested customer success stories from those who have been successful with Kubernetes.

This ticket was created over two years ago (06/Feb/2017 2:43 AM), is there any progress so far or at least a statement from Atlassian if there is the slightest chance of bringing this to reality? At the moment everyone is forced to take an unofficial Jira docker hub container, which is far from ideal.

We want to move our Jira Kubernetes also, would be amazing if Atlassian support Jira container. At the moment we have hosted in VMs.

@Deekshith could you please share your plan to move Jira to Kubernetes?
