    • We collect Jira feedback from various sources, and we evaluate what we've collected when planning our product roadmap. To understand how this piece of feedback will be reviewed, see our Implementation of New Features Policy.

NOTE: This suggestion is for JIRA Server. Using JIRA Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.

      Problem Definition

Outdated information is listed on our JIRA 7 documentation for running the https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/AdminJIRAServer071/Running+JIRA+applications+as+a+Windows+service#RunningJIRAapplicationsasaWindowsservice-Troubleshooting regarding 64 bit memory issues with Tomcat and JDK. This only applies to
https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/jira-windows-service-integrated-with-64-bit-java-consumes-all-allowed-memory-and-never-releases-it-235110422.html and JIRA 7 is now running on Tomcat 8. See
      https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/AdminJIRAServer071/Supported+platforms for reference.

      Suggested Solution

Remove the information regarding the 64 JDK: "You cannot run JIRA as a service on a 64-bit operating system if you require allocating more than 1.5GB of memory, due to 32-bit JDK memory limitations and 64-bit JDK/Tomcat service issues."

      Why this is important

Confuses users and sets the false expectation that an install failure might be a result of the above.
