      Atlassian Update – 14 August 2018

      Hi everyone,

Thank you for your interest in this issue.

While this suggestion has gathered significant interest, we're unable to implement all of the suggestions you make. We don't plan to work on this in the foreseeable future. This suggestion will be reviewed in about 12 months time, at which point we’ll consider whether we need to alter its status.

We understand this decision will be disappointing to everyone who voted for this issue. The functionality is available by installing the JSU - Suite Utilities for Jira plugin, which is available on the Atlassian Marketplace. Suite Utilities for Jira used to be a free app until last year, and we realise that many Jira users considered its capabilities an integral part of Jira.

The decision to commercialize the app was made by the vendor, so that they could maintain providing an adequate level of support for the tool and keep on track with compatibility updates. As soon as we learned about this change, we notified our users so you could plan accordingly. We understand your frustration. Ultimately though, it is the vendor's choice in terms of how they price their apps on the Atlassian Marketplace.

As the Jira Server Team, we prioritize investments that impact the majority of our customers. We believe Suite Utilities for Jira delivers great value to our customers and the plugin has proven to do its job well. This is why we currently have no plans to implement JSU's functionalities in the core product.

Also please remember that the first version of the plugin developed by Atlassian Labs is still open source.

While we believe this suggestion would improve the product, after careful review of the most pressing needs of our customers, we've decided to prioritize other areas of the Jira Server roadmap, including performance and stability improvements, shared editing of filters and dashboards, better notifications experience and the mobile app for Jira Server.

The workflow UI is very cool but at least in the version I'm using it does not allow me to update a custom field on a transition. As far as I can tell I can only update "simple" issues (see screenshot).

This feature would make it much simpler to add custom functionality to JIRA. It seems like quite a limitation because typically a workflow is updated to suit a company's process and in that scenario a custom field is likely to be used.

I appreciate that I could write custom Java code for this but that's a level of effort I can't make at this point in time.
