Summary
When pasting a screenshot into the comment field of an issue using the visual editor, it appears to render correctly, but when saving the comment it does not save correctly, giving a 'Unable to render embedded object' error:
Environment
- JIRA 7.3.x
- JIRA 7.2.x with the Rich Text Editor Labs feature enabled.
Steps to Reproduce
- Enabled RTE if on JIRA 7.2.x
- Copy an image into your clipboard.
- Add a new comment in Visual mode, and paste your screenshot in.
- Save your comment.
- If the problem can't be reproduced, try editing the comment and adding the screenshot again
Expected Results
The screenshot will render as it appears in the visual editor.
Actual Results
You receive the following error:
Notes:
- The issue will behave differently in IE.
- Tested using JIRA 7.4.0 using Chrome v60.0.3112.101 (Official Build) (64-bit) and 59.0.3071.115 (Official Build) (64-bit), the behavior will be shown like below in IE:
- Following the same steps as above in IE the image is rendered properly both in IE and Chrome.
Workaround
- To use the function to "Browse for file" or Drag 'n Drop. to upload the images (without copy/paste).
- Use the "Text" mode or disable RTE to remove the "Visual" mode.
