      Summary

In JIRA, according to the Atlassian Design Guidelines relative dates are shown such as "Yesterday". The absolute date and time can be shown using a tooltip.

Earlier versions of JIRA presented the relative date as "Yesterday 5:00pm", which helped JIRA users determine when yesterday the date is making reference to, which is useful when dealing with young dates.

      Steps to Reproduce

      1. Create a new issue in JIRA (version 6.3+)
      2. Wait a day.
      3. Observe the Created date is in-line with the Atlassian Design Guidelines
      4. Observe that there is no option to show the time without hovering over the date.

      Expected Results

A method to show the relative date with a time.

      Actual Results

No option to show the relative date with the time.

      Notes

This is not a bug, but a feature request. The documentation Customizing the Look and Feel provides details about Time Formats in JIRA.

      Workarounds

      1. Using the tooltip, users can see the absolute value of a JIRA date.
      2. Following the steps in: Disable Relative Dates in JIRA
