    • We collect Jira feedback from various sources, and we evaluate what we've collected when planning our product roadmap. To understand how this piece of feedback will be reviewed, see our Implementation of New Features Policy.

NOTE: This suggestion is for JIRA Server. Using JIRA Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.

Sometimes, users will accidentally delete/update issues or custom fields, and the steps to restore those issues or custom fields usually involves restoring backups, which would take quite a lot of time and effort.

As such, it would be great if JIRA had some sort of Recycle Bin or Trash (like in Confluence) so that users would be able to restore any accidentally deleted/updated issues easily.

            [JRASERVER-36415] Have a Trash/Recycle Bin in JIRA

Restoration of issue should be top priority for Jira feature team. Current restoration option will not work for huge project & instances. Kindly let us know about upcoming feature.

It would also be helpful to add a Recycle Bin or log for deleted comments that allows comments to be recovered within so many days.

Honestly this is a feature that should have been available from the start - please add this.

Also would be great for deleted filters and dashboards.

This feature was extremely useful as we had some cases in the past when accidentally was removed not only needed folder, but also all the rest ones.
Also, I'd suggest improving UX for this part - it's not very handy to perform this operation.

            We need this also.

New(er) to Jira and are finally finishing and completing some projects/issues/etc. Didn't see clearly how to close or finish an issue, but wanted it to go away, so chose delete without understanding the consequences. We're in cloud/hosted - is there a way to restore? If not, I'd like to advocate for this. From what I can tell, it messes up projects and can't be restored easily without database backups (which means we won't do it and will just have to deal with a broken project).

This is badly needed and should be made available for data center as well.

            Hi @Tobias,

I reviewed your add-on and it does look promising to me. I made a small video reviewing the add-on where I mentioned few improvement, mainly around adding some confirmation messages, checkboxes in the recycle bin and deleting them permanently.

            Good work.

Hey - my AddOn just got approved and is on the marketplace for you to download:

            • it gives you the option to recycle issues instead of deleting them
            • issues can be restored later at any point in time
            • there is a project and global permission to enable users to recycle issues and view the Recycle Bin

The app is available for free as public beta and will be continuously improved and enhanced in functionality.

            You can download it here:
