Actual behavior:
When you have an URL that contains special characters as [ or spaces, JIRA can't create a Web Link. It fails with the following error:
Invalid 'URL'. Make sure you include the full URL (e.g. http://www.google.com).
Steps to Reproduce:
- Open an issue and click on More and then in Link. Choose Web Link.
- In the URL, paste:
https://my.url.com/site/bla/INTERNAL Projects/Default Documentation /[Important] File.doc
- The error above will be displayed when you try to create the link.
Expected behavior:
JIRA should create the Web Link and if necessary, act as the web browser and convert the url from:
https://my.url.com/site/bla/INTERNAL Projects/Default Documentation /[Important] File.doc
To:
https://my.url.com/site/bla/INTERNAL%20Projects/Default%20Documentation%20/%5BImportant%5D%20File.doc
Workaround:
Currently, you can paste the URL on your browser and copy the converted version. Then you can paste it in JIRA.
