Implement a new permissions item that lets a user has "version maintenace " cababilities. This is currently only available to "admins" - but would be better delegated to "release/project managers".

[JRASERVER-2743] New permissions item - version maintenance

            /sarc

It's so great to see that the issue of permissions has been ongoing since..... 2003??????????

            /end sarc

Yeah, there are a ton of requests for this.  please please please work on your permissions.  While i love dark mode that was just released, we're talking about giving elevated permissions to someone just to click a "create release" button.

The description is wrong. We will fix this up.

BTW, I was talking about the "Administer Projects" permission in permission schemes that projects are associated with.

            Great!

That's what we need. The help text threw me off "Ability to administer this installation of JIRA. There must be at least one administration permission. Administrators can always log in to JIRA"...

            Thanks

Hey Mattias, in the Enterprise version I am using, you can set a permission "Administer Projects" which allows someone to manage versions without being a system administrator.

Yes, this would make life a great deal easier.

I was actually quite surprised it was not there already. Giving all release / project managers administrator permissions is dangerous, and having to call the adminstrator each time a version needs to be rescheduled is painful.

I see that this issue is getting really old. Any news?
