Export to Excel is limited to a maximum of 1000 issues

    • We collect Jira feedback from various sources, and we evaluate what we've collected when planning our product roadmap. To understand how this piece of feedback will be reviewed, see our Implementation of New Features Policy.

NOTE: This suggestion is for JIRA Server. Using JIRA Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.

      Problem Definition

Currently, when Exporting Search Results to Excel, the user interface by default only allows a user to export a maximum of 1000 issues to an excel spreadsheet.

      Suggested Solution

For JIRA Server - allow admins to increase the limit
For JIRA Cloud - Consider slightly increasing the limit, provided the Cloud Server can handle the increase

      Workaround

      For Behind the Firewall Customers

Please consult the KB article at Export More than 1000 Results to Excel

      For Cloud Customers
Please consult the KB article at Cloud - Export More than 1000 issues to Excel from Issue Navigator

Just to be clear: this problem is NOT solved for Jira Cloud.

Looks like the out of memory problem has now been addressed, and we can increase the limit. This is good news. See:

We are new users to Jira Cloud. It is disheartening to see such comments about the product direction. The 1000 export limitation  for tickets is at the very least annoying but actually as we will raise 250,000 tickets per year the 'change' statement for the next 1000 is totally impractical an is forcing us to consider alternative reporting mechanisms. A company that does not listen to its customers is heading into oblivion. Please lift this restriction so that companies can exploit ticket analysis in a professional manner.

Another day, another issue with Jira...

Instead of taking the next step in improving the service desk software, you are limiting and downgrading it.

            Great work!

Kerrod, this resonates with plenty of users. Atlassian's continued middle finger to its customers and to UX practices is why your customers are leaving. Bye. PS your software is shitty.

Jira is becoming more and more useless. I can't get the info I need from filters, and I can't export the data to SQL server for queries. Time to find another product.

            Hi there!

I know this ticket is closed but with add-on JExcel, you can export more than 1000 issues to Excel.

It works like the Issue Navigator but you can inline edit everything! And its free.

Feel free to give it a try:

Hope it will help you, too.
