We should investigate the possibility of using nice DHTML floating divs for various UI functions within JIRA, like:

• history list (popup on every page as a div)
• list of filters (could then be on every page, with the current filter highlighted)
• linked issue mouseover (could popup a whole div with summary info, icons etc)

We need to improve our code to only produce these divs if the remote browser supports it.
