Plugins and JIRA should have a mechanism that would allow to verify, if a given plugin is suitable for a particular JIRA release.
Based on the SAC cases, it seems to me that there is a significant number of users who experience issues with JIRA, when they install a plugin and the plugin is incompatible.
There are two main advantages of such a mechanism:
- More robust JIRA; currently in the best case scenario, if the incorrect plugin is installed some functionalities won't work. However, in the worst case scenario JIRA can't start up/crashes.
- The above point automatically result in a new SAC case.
